R. Padmanabhan, Chairman

Mr. Padmanabhan is the guiding force behind STEER. He single-handedly set up STEER’s entire operations (foundry & machine shop) at Coimbatore at a remarkable short span of 9 months. A meticulous planner, a strict disciplinarian and a born leader, Mr Padmanabhan, through sheer hard work and expertise in his field, moved up from being a maintenance-in-charge to becoming the executive director of a large textile industry. He carries with him a vast administrative ability, honed over 43 years of working.

Engineer, Entrepreneur, Researcher, Author, Founder and the Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer of STEER Engineering Pvt. Ltd, Dr. Padmanabhan’s journey began with a vision – To steer a new world and to help create a better tomorrow through engineering, research and innovation. He has made immense contributions to the field of polymer processing using twin-screw extruder platform technology. His work in designing processing section components has led to the development of innovative extrusion technology that caters to the global market. With patents on fractional and higher-lobed design elements, super treated twin-screw elements as well as fully wiping elements credited to his name, he is considered a visionary in the field of plastics. STEER’s revolutionary Omega platform technology with a 1.71 Do/ Di, created under his leadership, sets a new standard for polymer compounds processing. With Dr. Babu at the helm, STEER, is today, a world leader in materials platform technology that effectively transforms and functionalises materials in the fields of plastics, pharmaceuticals, food & nutraceuticals, biomaterials and biorefining.

Satish Padmanabhan, Director

Satish leads the Corporate Services Group. His key role lies in providing strategic leadership and direction to this group for all emerging businesses of STEER World.

Wayne Stagner, Director, STEER America

Wayne comes with 47 years of rich industrial experience and is the Chairman of Steer America. A Harvard Business Graduate, Wayne also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Prior to STEER, Wayne was the President of Coronado System Inc.

E. Srinivasan, Promoter Director

A postgraduate in MSc physics and a postgraduate in Management, ES (as he is popularly known) is our Promoter Director. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). Prior to STEER, he was associated with Canara Bank for over 25 years.

Kuntal Shah, Director, STEER

With over 14 years of experience across all the facets of financial markets, Kuntal has been advising family offices of High Net-Worth Investors, with assets under advice totalling to US$ 600m +, on fund allocation, portfolio construction, structuring and tax planning comprising of both public and private market investments. Kuntal holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics from Pune University.

Manish Jain, Director – STEER IT

Manish is a Postgraduate in Management Studies from Mumbai University, besides being a qualified Chartered Accountant from ICWAI. He is a globally recognised equity research professional focussed on emerging markets and has been instrumental in raising capital and advising large and reputed Indian pharmaceutical companies on their globalisation and acquisition strategies.

Atanu Maity, President & CEO, STEER Engineering

Atanu is responsible for all P&L related deliverables for STEER Engineering. He comes with a rich industrial experience of more than 25 years. Prior to STEER, Atanu led the climate solutions vertical at Ingersoll Rand. He has also held various leadership positions at Sona Koyo Steering systems. Atanu has completed his Masters in management from London School of Economics and B.Tech from IIT Madras.

Vincent Rosario, CIO, STEER

Vincent Rosario is the Chief Information Officer at STEER Engineering Private Limited and is responsible for IT business strategies and technical and business leadership.

Mike Millsaps, COO, STEER AMERICA

Mike has been a core member of STEER America’s leadership team since its inception in January 2008. Mike has been instrumental to STEER’s rapid growth and expanding market share in the NAFTA region. Prior to joining STEER America, Mike was Sales Manager at JSW, responsible for establishing and operating JSW’s US sales and technical center. Mike has over 25 years of plastics industry experience and has held various leadership positions with Farrel Corp., Conforma Clad and Dynisco.

Prasanna Kumar, DGM – Technical Services and Business Operations, STEER China

Prasanna has been with STEER for the last 17 years and is currently leading business operations in China. He has handled the testing and commissioning of over 100 extruders at customer plants in countries like the US, Japan, Germany, Thailand, Istanbul and China. Prasanna has been instrumental in setting up an entire plant that utilises twin-screw extruders and has built a great technical services team globally. He holds a Diploma in Rubber Technology from IIT, Delhi.

Sanjay Shah, CBO – INDIA, SAARC, SEA & MEA

Sanjay leads sales at STEER India besides fulfilling customer needs for India, and SAARC, SEA & MEA by managing Sales, Marketing and Application Development. His focus is largely on businesses aspects, which include Sales, Marketing and Business Development for expanded area of India, SAARC, SEA and MEA regions. Prior to joining STEER, Sanjay was with Reliance India Ltd, for over 20 years and he grew upto be Vice President. Amongst various activities he has handled Sales, Business Development, Project Planning and execution. He was part of team looking after acquisition & investment. He holds a BSc (Tech) in Polymer Technology from UDCT, Mumbai.

Akihiko Sato – President & CEO, STEERJapan Corporation

Sato San is a graduate in Polymer Chemistry from Gunma University, He began his career with Dow Chemical and was associated with them for over 27 years & grew up to be a Business Development Director, where he was responsible for Business development, M&A, forming JV, setting up new business establishments, for businesses mainly in Chemicals, Plastics, Water treatments, Battery and Consumer Businesses.

He later joined Owens-Corning, where he was managing the Glass Fibre business as MD , North & South Asia & Japan, lead multiple geographies & was associated with them for 15 years & progressed to be a President General Manager, Japan.

When he is not working, his passion winds him as a drummer (Jazz) in a regular ensemble. He likes to travel and is an avid business reader.

Takeshi Nakatsuka
Director, Business Development Department, STEER Japan

Nakatsuka San leads STEER’s ADC in Japan.He is an expert in compounding Technology. Prior to STEER he was associated with SANYO-KAKO as General Manager. He holds BSc in Applied chemistry from Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan.

Robert Roden, Head – Global Compounding and ADC

Rob is the Head of global compounding technology for STEER Engineering. He supports existing customers in the plastics industry while driving new manufacturing technologies in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, biocomposites and biorefining. He also focuses on special chemical industries and other areas where continuous manufacturing can impact manufacturing productivity, costs and the economic and physical global environment.

Uttam Kumar Bhageria- Finance Controller

Uttam is a B. Com. Graduate and a qualified Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Accountants of India. He has Expert knowledge in Accounting, Tax and Corporate Laws, Audit, Financial Management and Cost Management.

Uttam was associated with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (DHS) (A member firm of Deloitte Touche & Tomhatsu) and while being responsible for major areas like Accounting, Listing & SEBI requirements, Treasury, Pricing Models, Transfer Pricing, Direct and Indirect Taxes, he was instrumental in driving Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis, Streamlining of Processes and Internal Control Systems.

Uttam is passionate about leading teams to meet Organizational goals and timelines and create a learning function which facilitates financial stewardship and strength. He believes in corporate governance and working through people to achieve strategic goals.

Ram Subramanian, Executive Director

K. S. Ramsubramanian Executive Director. Ram is actively engaged in branding and marketing at STEER. He brings more than 38 years of ‘Corporate work and Management Consultancy’ experience in International Business Management, Marketing, Sales and New Ventures. His key strengths are in Creativity, Concept Development, Visualisation and Mentoring. Has done his post graduate management studies in marketing with JBIMS, Mumbai. Ram is an avid golfer too.

Shyam Sundar S Pani, Director – Corporate Communications

Shyam leads the branding and communications vertical at STEER. He brings around 17 years of meticulous entrepreneurship and rewarding work in PR, Marketing and Sales. Prior to STEER he was managing his own firm — ‘ GIREM’, which is an industry body, focused on urbanisation, future cities, and Eco-Socio-economic infrastructure.

Chethan Sharma, AVP – Corporate Strategy

Chethan has been with STEER for the last 6 years, He spent his first few years as Finance Manager, globally responsible for Accounting, Budgets, MIS and Taxation for STEER Group.

He understands the pulse of the Organization well, and has transitioned into a role in Corporate Strategy. He takes part in setting up new businesses, contract negotiations and other strategic initiatives.

He is a CA from the ICAI and was associated with Deloitte before he joined STEER.
